Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer Free Consultations?

Yes.  We would be happy to discuss your matter with no charge at the initial consultation.  We handle initial consultations in person or over the phone.

How long will my case take?

This is always a tough question to answer.  It depends on a number of factors.  The largest factor is the ability of the parties to agree upon the major terms of the litigation.  If the parties are able to reach an amicable settlement, the case can progress at a much faster pace.  Once we have the opportunity to discuss your matter, we will be able to better assess the projected duration of the case.

How much will my case cost?

The analysis for this question would be similar to the one above.  Once we have the opportunity to discuss your matter, we will be able to better assess the projected cost of the case.

Do you require a retainer?

For the vast majority of cases, an initial retainer is required.  It is a fully refundable retainer, meaning that any unearned portion will be returned.

How much is your initial retainer?

The initial retainer is decided on a case by case basis.  However, the general retainer is between $2,500 and $5,000, depending on the complexity of the case.

What is your hourly rate?

It can vary, but it is typically $350 per hour.

What counties do you practice in?

We primarily practice in DuPage, Cook, Will, Kane, and Kendall counties.

What areas of law do you handle?

Our focus is on family law matters such as divorce.  However, we also handle areas of law adjacent to family law, such as real estate and estate planning.
